Apple iBook G4 help please!!?

Okay,my friend has an iBook G4 but there is a problem. When you turn it on it makes the noises n' such but then it goes to a white/grey screen with the apple logo and the loading wheel. And it just stays like that. I've tried taking the battery out and leaving it out doing stuff with the option button nothing works!! She doesn't have any money to get it fixed until next month and she needs it returned to her mom by tomorrow. Please help!
