Why is it that they get more attention?

Why is it that the sluttier and faker girls get more attention than those who are pretty without a whole lot of make-up or whore-ish clothes or something like that? Why is it that the dumber girls get less attention than the smarter ones? Why is it that the mean and skinny ones get more attention than the nice, yet chubby girls? A lot of questions, but I've always been curious about this...
